my first sock! socks? a pair?

I finally managed to take the bull by the horns or the dpn's by the point and knit my first sock. I won't show you the picture of the first sock as it was obviously made for an elephant and I unpicked it and used the yarn again.

I did the first sock for my "first born" (aged 6) who was so chuffed with it (note singular) that he wore it (note singular) all day. So I had to make another one - but didn't quite concentrate and it came out rather bigger than the previous one. But................... the good thing is - the next born (aged 5) has smaller feet so I'm about to start the pair for each. (excuse the straw in the picture as Bertie wore his socks to riding club and had a poo fight).

they are knitted in Donegal Aran Tweed and they feel lovely. They seemed a bit scratchy before i blocked them but now they are lovely and soft. I used 4m dpns but i think on my pair (to be started) i'll do them on 3m to give more longevity.

my first knitting project - pure and simple cardigan

I don't know how i managed it but I have managed to knit a whole cardigan - and it was my first ever knitting project. I am now obsessed.

It is knitted in Coccoon Tundra on circular needles (us6) but the guage did not match the pattern and as such has knitted up to be enormous. However, i did want it to be oversized as i've just had twins and wanted something that would cover everything and still be able to wear another jumper underneath it.

The pattern is the topdown shaped cardigan from http://www.knittingpureandsimple.com/ and is really very easy if you just let go of any preconceived ideas and follow the instructions. a very difficult thing to do if you hate to follow and like to create!
